Midwife in Berlin and what do you really need for the baby?
Let’s be real here, your essential newborn baby list, meaning fundamental and absolutely necessary, is not that long.
And I tell you why?
- A plus, in not buying too much is, that you can try out what kind of clothing works best for you and your baby. O
- Once you have figured that out, which material, which company, which style you favour, than stock up. ( or hit the next size anyway)
- Your baby is growing, gaining weight faster, than you might think. The next size is just around the corner.
Your Essential Newborn Baby List includes:
- 6-8 baby bodys/ vests
- 6 one-pieces, PJs
- 3-4 pants and tops
- 2-3 cardigans or jumpers
- 4-6 socks
- 2-3 tights in winter
- 1-2 hats, thinner for inside
- 1 sleeping bag ( for save baby sleep ) summer and winter edition
- 1 baby blanket
- 8 Muslin squares, they will be helpful when your baby is spitting up, or to use on the changing table or on the go
I’d like to add:
- I suggest starting of with a size 50, being realistic that maybe after 6.8 weeks the next size 56 is necessary.
- A size 50 and or 56, is the German equivalent for 0-3 months.
- Depending on the brand/ make, a 56 is too big for a small newborn baby which is 3kg heavy and 50 cm long.
- If you are using wool and silk outfits you need less outfits. 2-3 each.
I suggest you check my post, where I show you how to dress the baby, German style.
Lots of love & Go leor de ghrá,
